I’ve been using meebo for a while, it’s a great way to combine all your IM accounts in one handy place when you’re not at your normal computer.

They’ve just launched a major new release, meebo rooms which is pretty fucking cool, to be honest. It allows you to create chatrooms in your meebo window, private or public, on any topic.

You can link to other sites, Flickr, youtube, etc, and it all sort of loads in your little room window. You can invite your IM contacts to join in the meebo chats - so someone on you AIM list can chat with someone on your MSN list… This is really cool!

You can embed them in your site. This presumably means that anyone visiting them can chat on them, like the meebome widget that I currently have in the sidebar of my site.

How about if Flickr and meebo got super-friendly and allowed groups to have a “meebo” section where they could embed their own chatroom? That would make some old skoolers really happy!

It does seem a little flaky right now, but I’m sure it’ll settle down.

Anyway, being a complete Flickr whore, I created a meebo room for Flickr, login to meebo to see it in action properly, or you can engage in real-live chitty-chatty via the same room being embedded my site!
